His Name Was Ptirou
Script by - Art by
This is the story of two lives intersecting. Juliette de Sainteloi is the daughter of an important businessman, and suffers from a serious heart condition. Ptirou is a young trapeze artist whose mother has just died while attempting a daring aerial feat. He has run away from the circus to avoid being put in an orphanage. This chance encounter between a daughter accompanying her father on business to New York, and a young stowaway hoping to try his luck in America, will mark a dramatic turning point in both their lives. In 1929, Robert Velter was a steward on board the ship carrying these two young people. By 1938, he had become a comic book artist better known by the pseudonym, “Rob-Vel.” Inspired by the tragic story of this mischievous little redhead, the character of Spirou is born.
