Loup Michiels was born in Brussels in 1982. Alongside his humanities studies, he took courses in drawing and engraving at the Fine Arts Academy of Wavre, after which he enrolled at the La Cambre National School of the Visual Arts, to study painting. His first personal exposition came in 2008 at the Bortier Gallery, and in 2011 he exhibited his work at the MAAC (Maison d’Art Actuel des Chartreux), following a residency program. In 2014, he began teaching painting and visual communication in Mons at ARTS2 (École Supérieure des Arts au Carré). In 2017, he was chosen for a residency at TAMAT (a foundation focused on tapestry) in Tournai, where his work was exhibited in 2018. He currently divides his time between painting, writing, and comics and graphic novels. In 2018, he published the ambitious and award-winning graphic novel Trap alongside Mathieu Burniat (Dargaud; Europe Comics in English).
