Krzysztof Gawronkiewicz was born in 1969 in Warsaw, where he lives and works to this day. In 1989 he made his debut in the literary magazine Fantastyka. He is the author of comics, illustrations for the press as well as other books. His first book published in Poland was Mikropolis, with a script by Dennis Wojda. A few years later, his graphic novel Essence with a script by Grzegorz Janusz won the Grand Prix of the inaugural European Comic Book Competition organized by television channel Arte and publisher Glénat. In 2006, "Essence" was also nominated at the Angouleme International Comics Festival. On the Francophone market, Krzysztof has also published Romantisme - Les Extravagantes Enquêtes d'Otto et Watson (Glénat, script by Grzegorz Janusz), L'Insurrection: Avant l'orage (Aire Libre-Dupuis, script by Marzena Sowa) and Achtung Zelig! (Casterman, script by Krystian Rosenberg), which won the Prix Millepages BD in 2005. He entered the Europe Comics catalogue in spring 2020 with the ambitious graphic novel Beneficio, alongside writer Michał Kalicki.
