Jean-Yves Ferri

Jean-Yves Ferri is a comic book author. His published works include series "Retour à la Terre" (2016 Europe Comics, "Back to Basics"), with Manu Larcenet on the artwork, and "De Gaulle à la plage," as a solo project. He was selected by Hachette publishing to be the new writer for the Asterix adventures, thus assuming the mantle of Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny. Born in a wooden shack on the edge of a field of barley, his early years have bestowed him with an unconditional love of the land. "Only the poppy delights me, Only the dragonfly moves me..." (Labour fous - Poésie Plon 1969). Much of his work testifies to his bucolic frenzy, such as his "Fables autonomes" (1996 - 1998 Fluide Glacial). Wrongly classed in the 'comedy' category, they celebrate a rough and violent rurality, halfway between the social realism of "The Grapes of Wrath" and the springtime lyricism of "Oscar the little duck." And then came the "Aime Lacapelle" series, about a countryside policeman. This hero of deepest darkest France became the idol of a whole generation of rebel agriculturalists. The series was so successful that Ferri was even able to repaint his shack. Several times. In his script of "Retour à la terre" ("Back to Basics" - Larcenet collaboration), he aims to bring together town and country, and to raise awareness of the plight of uprooted cats. The author divides his time between comics and collecting dahlia cuttings.
