Otaku Blue

A young Japanese sociology student, Asami, has chosen to study the otakus: obsessed collector/fans who become fixated on a single passion. Her job is to meet with them, get them to talk about their fixations, and, as it were, to “dissect” them. In the course of her work, Asami meets a very special otaku on the Internet. She is fascinated by this specimen: he seems to synthesize in himself all the traits that she has noticed only separately in others – a kind of ultimate otaku. This otaku, it turns out, is indeed a collector. A very special kind of collector, who will draw our heroine into a terribly dark and harrowing tale…
