From 1973 to 1980 in the pages of the “Nouvel Obs,” Claire Bretécher each week published a portrait of Frustration that earned her the recognition as “the best sociologist of the year” by Roland Barthes in 76. She created sketches of French snobs, intellectuals and left-wingers with her usual astuteness and gentle mockery.
